Cana of Galilee is famous for Jesus’ first miracle. It is conveniently places on the way from Nazareth to Tiberias where many tourist stay overnight. On their way to the hotel they park the bus in a service road designed for that purpose, then they make their way to the Churches’ Street where they are first welcome by souvenir shops all the way to the Franciscan Wedding Church.

The church is built on top of ancient ruins of a Byzantine chapel. Inside there is a big stone vat that, allegedly, is the kind of vessel that was used in the first miracle. A lot of tourists, however, choose to renew their vows there, some more traditionally than others.

Remember that service road mentioned above? At its entrance is the Evangelical church where our team members, Hani and Shifa, Ibraheem and Ekhlas, minister. Last week they were visited by 150 fellow Christians from Brazil. Most of them renewed their wedding vows, and one couple got married. There was such joy and happiness especially when they knew that there are Arab believers in the Holy Land. It’s cool to look at the old stones; the ruins of what once was. But what a joy it is to share these happy moments with living stones; brothers and sisters in Christ!
