Our Calling(s)

“I am the vine, you are the branches. He who abides in Me, and I in him, he it is that bears much fruit, for apart from Me you can do nothing.” John 15:5

There are two callings the Lord made on our lives.

The first: God’s calling for salvation by grace, for we are saved by His grace “He saved us, not because of deeds done by us in righteousness, but in virtue of His own mercy…” (Titus 3:5). We have been saved by grace, His grace for He is the one who paid the price for our sins, He is the one who suffered and died and rose for us, “for it is by grace you have been saved, through faith—and this is not from yourselves, it is the gift of God— 9 not by works, so that no one can boast.” (Ephesians 2:8-9)

And there’s another calling that God called us with and this one calls for our diligence and responsibility. And as Christ directed His words in Luke 9:23, “Then he said to them all: “Whoever wants to be my disciple must deny themselves and take up their cross daily and follow me.”

Christ directs His speech to us today if we want to follow Him with all our hearts. So we have to separate ourselves from all that deters us from progressing in Christ, and this calls for setting our priorities and giving the firstfruit of our time, and to be very serious about our relationship with the Lord. And I mean in our study of the word and the life of true worshipful prayer which brings about daily ongoing filling of the Holy Spirit, and the authorization of spiritual fathers over our lives and to be transparent with them accepting their advice and instruction … our life is to be open to them. Also our sanctified fellowship should be in the Lord’s church and with the worshipping praying people of God, and we begin to take bold steps in witnessing and testifying, telling of what the Lord did for us and had mercy upon us.

This consecration is steadfastness in the Lord, and then automatically, we will see our lives changing, our character and conduct changing as well and people begin to see the light of Christ in our life. And because we are responsible and committed, people will automatically begin to find ourselves making a difference in the community, and will discover our spiritual talents easily, and will live the plan of God and His wonderful purpose for our life.
