Peace? Why hasn't someone done more quicker?

Many people have been frustrated that neither surrounding countries nor far foreign countries have done more quicker to help end the recent violence between Israel and Hamas in Gaza.

Saleem Hanna, CHLF Team Leader & Pastor at Turan, IsraelBut within the questions they are also asking and wondering, why doesn’t God end all this? He certainly has the power. He overcame the devil himself, can He not overcome his coworkers?? But God desires that all men and women come to know Him and know His salvation and love. God knows what is happening and there is nothing that passes by Him. He said, “I am God, and there is no other; I am God, and there is none like me. I make known the end from the beginning, from ancient times, what is still to come. I say, ‘My purpose will stand, and I will do all that I please.’” (Isaiah 46:9-10). A verse like this makes us maybe even wonder and question more, but do you/we trust God our Father enough to take Him for His word, all of it, all the time and in all circumstances?

We are His; we are His followers and we believe in Him who died for us and paid the heavy price with His own blood. That doesn’t mean that we will not face difficulties and tribulations, but it does mean that He, as He promised, is with us – His children and people – and will help us to face what is against us. We are not alone. Psalm 46:1 assures us that

“God is our refuge and strength, an ever-present help in trouble.”

The Lord Jesus said these comforting and reassuring words to us in Matthew 10:29-31

“Are not two sparrows sold for a penny? Yet not one of them will fall to the ground outside your Father’s care. And even the very hairs of your head are all numbered. So don’t be afraid; you are worth more than many sparrows.”

Sometimes maybe our faith goes weak and we need to be warned as Jesus warned the disciples in Matthew 8:23-27 as they faced the storm in the Sea of Galilee. Our world does not conform to the will of God and therefore it is not safe, but we are His and under His mercy all the time. He is able of all things and nothing is impossible for Him. He is our hope and the source of our comfort and peace and the only One we can depend on. He said,

“Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid.”
